The Board approved a work release (not to exceed $259,640) with David's Engineering to advance the Robert Van Lier Regulating Reservoir expansion from 30% to 100% design. The project will roughly double the reservoir's operating capacity—from approximately 240 acre-feet to around 500 acre-feet on a footprint expanding from ~30 to ~60 acres. Staff noted that during peak irrigation season the existing reservoir is being maxed out, particularly as a large Tier 2 irrigator has increased intake. A key unknown is whether the Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) will take jurisdiction; if so, a spillway would be required, adding cost and timeline. Design completion is targeted for February 8 (per the work release schedule), with timeline subject to DSOD/environmental review.
