1. Groundwater Assessment Increasing to $2.00 Per Acre for 2027 The board approved raising the annual per-acre assessment from $1.50 to $2.00, effective for the 2027 tax year. The GSA currently has roughly $515,000 in cash on hand, but significant consulting bills for the updated Groundwater Sustainability Plan are expected to draw that balance down through the remainder of 2026. Because assessments can only be placed once per year, the board opted to restore the $2.00 rate now rather than risk a shortfall.
