1. Water Year 2026 Sustainable Yield Allocation Announced at Historic Low
The District announced sustainable yield allocations for Water Year 2026, marking the first time the ET-based allocation has dropped below 1.0 acre-feet per acre. Under the ET-based method, growers receive 0.97 AF/acre (0.14 AF/acre native sustainable yield plus 0.83 AF/acre precipitation). Under the extraction method, the allocation is 0.27 AF/acre. These allocations are based on the Tule Basin Coordination Agreement methodology using a 34-year average and are subject to change as the District completes its own consultant review; for this year, the allocation memo was prepared by 4Creeks.
