1. SGMA Portal Cleaned Up — Only 53 Wells Now in the Representative Monitoring Network DWR required the Authority to pare down its SGMA Portal from ~172 wells to the 53 wells that make up the official Representative Monitoring Network (RMN). Some CASGEM wells (among the wells no longer visible in the Portal after the cleanup) will be reintegrated into the portal under a separate tab starting July 2026; non-CASGEM, non-RMN wells will not be in the SGMA Portal and should continue to be maintained outside the Portal (e.g., by GSAs and/or the county/Authority as applicable). GSAs are strongly encouraged to continue collecting groundwater data on non-RMN wells, as these may be needed as replacements if network wells become inaccessible, and the historical data remains valuable for basin management.
