1. Subsidence Monitoring Improvements Approved ($77,500)
The committee approved Optional Task Order 7 for EKI Environmental to revise the basin's subsidence monitoring approach. Currently, the GSA uses groundwater levels as a proxy for subsidence, which doesn't align with DWR's preferred methods and could trigger undesirable results declarations even when actual subsidence isn't occurring. The new approach will revise the subsidence sustainable management criteria (SMC) and related analyses, including critical head analysis, bringing the basin into closer alignment with updated DWR guidance and better reflecting actual subsidence conditions in the basin.
