1. Groundwater Recharge Feasibility Studies Show Promising Results for the Vina Subbasin The committee received a final project recap on the SGM grant-funded Recharge Feasibility Analysis. Pilot studies tested infiltration basins and reverse tile drains at multiple sites, demonstrating strong recharge potential—up to 200 acre-feet per day at the Rock Creek/Kiefer Slough site at full buildout and approximately 62 acre-feet per day from a scaled-up 20-acre basin near Comanche Creek. Three projects are now proposed for implementation, but next steps depend on securing funding (potentially through state grants), and a separate grant-funded legal implications task is underway (expected to wrap up in December). Landowner cooperation was highlighted as critical to success, and the project team emphasized that the methods developed can be replicated across the basin.
