The Board Approved a New Groundwater Extraction Fee of $50.67 Per Acre Per Year After conducting a Proposition 218 public hearing, the board adopted Resolution 2026-08-01 establishing a groundwater extraction fee for the PID GSA. The fee is calculated at $337.78 per acre-foot of Native Sustainable Yield, which at the 0.15 acre-foot per acre allocation works out to $50.67 per acre annually. The fee applies to the applicable 2025–2026 period, including the period beginning October 2025, and is intended to recover an annual GSA budget of approximately $785,343 based on roughly 15,500 acres (per staff's fee calculation assumptions). Only 65.43 acres (13 parcels) submitted written protests — far short of the majority needed to block the fee.
