1. Free Nitrogen and Irrigation Management Consulting Available for Township Growers
Ryan Dodd from Provost and Pritchard Engineering announced a $1 million USDA NRCS Conservation Innovation Grant program offering approximately 90 hours of free irrigation and nitrogen management consulting to growers in one selected township within the district. The program aims to improve nitrogen efficiency metrics that will be increasingly scrutinized under the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program (ILRP) in coming years. The township was selected based on elevated nitrogen use efficiency metrics and includes a mix of almonds, pistachios, and other crops. Growers will receive one-on-one certified crop advisor assistance with their Irrigation and Nitrogen Management Plan (INMP) worksheets and strategies to reduce nitrogen application while potentially boosting yields. Contact information is available through the district office.
