Matt Mossieri, Senior Advisor for Operations from the Bureau of Reclamation's D.C. office, reported that approximately $1.5 billion in federal funding announcements are imminent — roughly $750 million in non-reimbursable One Big Beautiful Bill Act funds and another ~$750 million in aging infrastructure funds. A significant portion is earmarked for Central Valley Project storage and conveyance projects, including Delta-Mendota Canal capacity restoration. An additional ~$650 million in drought (IRA) funds must be obligated by a September 30 deadline or it will expire. He noted that DOGE-style reviews may slow the contracting process even after announcements are made.
