The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) has sent the GSA a formal request for additional information on its 180/400-Ft Aquifer Subbasin GSP periodic evaluation and Amendment 1. In response to a Board question, staff explained DWR could approve it, deem it incomplete (triggering a 180-day correction window), or deem it inadequate — which would refer the basin to the State Water Resources Control Board. If that happens, the State Board can impose mandatory pumping reductions and begin charging fees for well registration and per-acre-foot pumping. Staff is preparing a detailed response, with work expected to resume in April 2026, including at least two multi-project scenarios to demonstrate a path toward sustainability by 2040.
