1. Major Water Main Break at Sunrise Way and East Palm Canyon Drive On December 18th, a contractor damaged a 24-inch pipeline while installing a signal modification project conduit, causing a significant water leak that required a temporary repair on December 19 and permanent night work on December 29–30. The contractor used horizontal directional drilling and accidentally drilled into the pipeline, affecting service to surrounding businesses and the community during the holiday period. Desert Water Agency will calculate repair costs, labor, damages and water loss and pursue reimbursement from either the contractor or the City of Palm Springs.
