1. New Groundwater Quality Monitoring Network Approved — Farmers Should Know What's Being Tested and Where The board approved a new groundwater quality monitoring network to satisfy state (DWR) corrective actions. The network covers three principal aquifers using mostly existing public water supplier wells, plus two TID drainage wells and two GSA monitoring wells. Constituents of concern now include arsenic, nitrate, PCE, 1,2,3-TCP, total dissolved solids, uranium, manganese, and DBCP (a legacy soil fumigant). Nitrate will be sampled annually; all other constituents every three years. The estimated cost to the West Turlock GSA is approximately $17,000 every three years.
