1. San Gorgonio Pass Subbasin Shows Improvement but Long-Term Supply Concerns Remain The Water Year 2024-25 SGMA annual report for the San Gorgonio Pass Subbasin showed a second consecutive year of positive change in groundwater storage (~4,000 acre-feet net gain). All monitored key wells were above minimum thresholds. However, groundwater production is currently the only direct supply source counted in the report for this basin (~9,000 acre-feet, mostly urban/domestic with 14% industrial), while a surface water source damaged by the Apple Fire is currently being used for recharge. Plans to extend imported-water conveyance and develop recharge facilities to bring water directly into the basin remain in the conceptual design phase, and board members expressed concern about whether future supply can keep pace with projected/potential development (including Director Gracia's reference to the county planning ~30,000 homes). Director Gracia raised pointed questions about well failures at golf courses and data centers being sited in areas with the least groundwater recovery.
