1. Irrigation Season Outlook Is Tight — Expect a Short Run The coordinated Kings River run is set to begin May 15 and last approximately 75 days (through early July). However, the April 1 water supply number came in around the mid-40% range, significantly below average. Projections that were 50–55 days at the last meeting have shrunk further. People's Ditch Company start timing was discussed as potentially end-of-May/early-June (to be set by its board/management), and Last Chance was discussed as typically starting about a week after People's — with about a 10-day lag from release at the headworks to water arriving at the lower end of the system. Growers should plan for a compressed irrigation window and coordinate closely with ditch companies.
