The committee expressed support for proceeding with calibrating the subbasin's groundwater model in 2026 rather than delaying to 2027. At the Technical Ad Hoc Committee, the vote was split 50/50, with some members arguing to wait for better metering data. However, Northern group members emphasized that data quality is unlikely to materially improve in one year, that nearly every surrounding subbasin already has a calibrated model, and that the current model overestimates subsidence — making the basin look worse on paper than reality. Vice Chair Vince Lucchesi will carry this position to the JPA Board meeting on Monday, March 9, 2026.
