1. Future groundwater pumping projections are about 20% lower than originally assumed in the GSP — supporting basin sustainability. The agency updated its water use projections by working with each member agency and incorporating metered private well data. Overall projected pumping dropped roughly 20%, driven mainly by reduced City of Ventura extractions (reflecting new pumping protocols) and a nearly 50% reduction in estimated domestic well use after the registration process revealed many wells are inactive. Private agricultural pumping projections were essentially flat (up only ~2%). These lower projections further support the finding that the basin is in balance between recharge and use.
