Notable figures from the 2024–25 water year (example discussed during the presentation): 124,137 acre-feet delivered to growers at the farm gate, approximately 65,000 acre-feet of private groundwater pumping (over 30% of agricultural water use), net groundwater recharge of ~42,000 acre-feet, and lateral spills (drain losses) discussed as a large share of deliveries (staff noted the estimate may be inflated due to degraded gauges). Staff cautioned that the drain spill number may be inflated due to aging and degraded drain gauges, and that rehabilitating those gauges is a priority — a Water Smart grant application (~$400,000, with 50% district cost share) is planned for July to fund drain gauge replacement and maintenance.
