1. Phase 1 Paulsell Lateral Expansion Project is Complete — Bringing Major Water Delivery Improvements to the South Side The district completed a two-winter construction project expanding approximately six miles of the Paulsell canal from a maximum capacity of 30–35 cfs, designed for up to 180 cfs. The project, funded by a $14.4 million DWR SGMA Implementation Grant, included enlargement of two hand-dug tunnels (originally built in 1913), six concrete drop structures (including relocation of one existing drop), multiple road and creek crossings, and installation of Rubicon automation gates operating under the TCC (Total Channel Control) program. Four customers on the expanded stretch are already receiving improved water availability and delivery flexibility, and three new groundwater monitoring wells along Warnerville Road will help track recharge benefits over time.
