1. Baffle Walls Removed at Pumping Plant 2B After Causing Flow Restrictions Agency staff discovered that baffle walls installed at Pumping Plant 2B were impeding canal flows, causing a 30–60 cfs discrepancy and preventing Pool 3 from maintaining adequate levels. All three baffle walls were pulled, and the flow issue resolved itself. The baffle walls—originally installed as a cheaper alternative to address pump vortexing—will stay out for now, and the agency is evaluating next steps with engineering staff and potentially consultants. Staff noted that potential vortexing problems at higher flow rates may still need to be addressed and that the more costly original fix could still be needed going forward.
