1. Groundwater Banking Study with Metropolitan Water District Is Underway The Blueprint and Metropolitan Water District have a jointly funded groundwater banking investigation underway (Phase 1 kicked off in July, ~$240,000 funded by Metropolitan) to identify and assess potential banking areas across the San Joaquin Valley. Stantec will compile data on recharge suitability, groundwater quality, surface water availability, conveyance infrastructure, and pumping moratoriums at the GSA level, with a draft assessment expected by April. A steering committee of Blueprint participants will provide technical input, and growers were encouraged to eventually have a voice in the process given the likelihood that on-farm recharge will be a significant component.
