1. Water season likely ending mid-August at best — no guarantee of August water at all. Staff reported that the district needs approximately 50,000 acre-feet of additional supply beyond what is currently projected to extend operations into August. When asked directly "Are we going to have water in August or not?", a board member responded candidly: "We don't know. Visit us next month." The board will have better information at the July meeting (third Thursday) to make a decision. In discussion, members noted flood irrigation might shift to every-other irrigation if any August water is available, and almond growers on drip systems would need to prioritize accordingly.
