1. Draft Groundwater Allocation Policy Released for 45-Day Public Comment
The Mid-Kings River GSA has a draft Groundwater Allocation Policy out for public comment through December 1st, 2025. The policy proposes a sustainable yield allocation of 1.43 acre-feet per acre based on historical pumping data, with 36% of the subbasin's sustainable yield allocated to Mid-Kings River GSA. A public workshop was held with approximately 50 attendees, and a virtual workshop is scheduled for November 19th at 6 PM. The South Fork Kings GSA submitted a comment letter criticizing this methodology and requesting withdrawal of the policy, claiming it rewards historical over-pumping and is uncoordinated with other Tulare Lake Subbasin GSAs.
