Potter Valley Project: Dam Removal and Water Supply Changes Moving Forward The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors recently voted 3-2 to support the current plan to remove the PG&E dams at Potter Valley and to transition to purchasing water through a contract with the Round Valley Indian Tribe, and the Millview board received an update on that plan. This represents a major shift in how the region will manage water supply. While the plan should provide as much or more water to Lake Mendocino and the Russian river as currently flows, operational costs are expected to increase because the region will likely need to construct a new pumping station at Van Arsdale and would only be able to pump water from roughly November through April. Water is expected to become more expensive under this planned arrangement.
