1. New Groundwater Monitoring Method Approved Using Satellite Technology The Board approved a $35,000 contract with Zanjero for satellite-based evapotranspiration (ET) measurement to estimate groundwater pumping. This technology is becoming the industry standard across the San Joaquin Valley and will provide field-by-field water use data that can be cross-checked against SSJID's existing water delivery records and groundwater model estimates. This method could eventually be used for more detailed annual accounting and allocation management at the individual farm level.
