Future Groundwater Pumping Projections Are Significantly Lower Than Originally Planned Updated water use projections show anticipated pumping in the Mound Basin ranging from ~2,300 to ~5,600 acre-feet per year — a 25% to nearly 70% decrease from the ~7,500 acre-feet assumed in the original Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). The City of Ventura's pumping could drop to as low as zero once the Ventura Water Pure project comes online, since Mound Basin water is their lowest-priority supply due to water quality challenges.
